Keep Friends You Admire... What you know by 40

4 years ago, I asked one of my oldest friends, Rodney Williams, if I could make a video promoting his work as an attorney.  Of course he was like, I don't advertise.  Rod has never been an attention-seeking type of dude.  But when I framed it as a favor to me, so that I could get some much needed practice at short filmmaking, the brother, like he always does, came through.  Here's what we made one Saturday while he was hustling for his family as usual.

In 36 days when I turn 40, Rodney Williams, Brian Williams, Hasani Dixon, and Nkrumah Dixon will have been my friends for 35 years.  That's kindergarten folks.  That's group texting almost daily to this day.  That's raising our kids like cousins.  That's getting each other opportunities (Thank you Brian).  That's priceless.

We don't agree on everything.  We debate daily.  We might even have a not-so-closeted Republican among us.  But I admire each of these men greatly...  more on that in another post.

For now, just know that you can't earn 35 years of friendship till you turn 40.  Thats one of the best perks of the perfect age.
